During today's board meeting, CalPERS CEO Marcie Frost addressed recent concerns about the private credit market and our role in that space.

We are confident in our investment team's ability to capitalize on opportunities that allow us to diversify our portfolio, and which ultimately bolsters our ability to pay member benefits.

Our CalPERS team does its due diligence in every investment we make. As a long-term investor, we don’t allow temporary market volatility to affect our strategy.

"Help me understand."

This was a common sentiment we heard from our members this weekend at our latest CalPERS Benefits Education Event (CBEE) in Anaheim.

More than 1,400 public servants showed up in search of knowledge and clarity on their CalPERS benefits, and the vast majority walked away more empowered and educated on how to secure their retirement futures.

As a result of meaningful in-person interactions with our dedicated team members and subject matter experts — several of whom led in-depth and informative classes over the course of two days — members throughout Southern California came, learned, and conquered their CalPERS questions.

Our Ask the Experts booths and tables are designed to provide one-on-one assistance, and many capitalized on these valuable resources as well, with a handful of members even applying for retirement on the spot!

Safe to say, our Anaheim CBEE was a success. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who lent us their time and attention, and to our entire team for their hard work in executing a flawless event.

We can't wait until the next CBEE in Redding, and we hope you'll join us then.
