Benefits are paid at the beginning of the month for the previous month’s benefits. For tax reasons, your December retirement check is always dated the first day of the new year.
The State Controller’s Office issues checks and determines mailing dates. If you have direct deposit, contact your financial institution to see when funds are placed in your account.

We offer different options for you to view your retirement check. You can view your check through our mobile app or access details through our automated phone system.
You can also continue to access your retirement check statements by logging in to your myCalPERS account. If you don’t have an account, follow the easy registration process listed on the Using myCalPERS webpage. You can also update your payment preferences in your myCalPERS account by selecting Retirement, then select Payment Options and follow the prompts.
