Have Your CalPERS ID or Social Security Number Handy
If you have specific questions about your account, we’ll need one of these numbers to access it. You can find your CalPERS ID on any letter you receive from CalPERS.
It’s a unique 10-digit number we assign to you as an alternative to using your Social Security number when conducting business with us.
Know the Best Days and Times to Call
While we strive to provide the fastest response possible, to reduce any possible wait times you may wish to call us:
- During the middle or end of the week
- In the afternoons
- After the first of the month
Our highest call volume periods are during the beginning of the week, the day following a holiday, and early mornings.
Know if Language Services Are Needed
We are ready to help you with interpreting assistance. If you need interpretation services, request to speak with an interpreter at the very beginning of the call. The waiting period to reach an appropriate interpreter can vary based on the current call volume, but we will get a professional interpreter in your preferred language on the line as quickly as possible.
Check Your myCalPERS Online Account
Prior to calling, you can log in to your myCalPERS account and check for any publications and CalPERS communications that may be related to your question. The myCalPERS portal is your gateway to conduct business electronically with CalPERS and access real-time details about your CalPERS account.
You can access health information, plan for retirement, conduct business with CalPERS online, and enroll in educational offerings or schedule appointments. You may also use myCalPERS to maintain accurate, up-to-date contact information, including your mailing address, phone number, and email address.
