We Support Your Right to Know!
Sunshine Week, a nationwide celebration of access to public information, occurs March 12-18, 2023. This weeklong initiative promotes the importance of open government and freedom of information. We at CalPERS always strive to be transparent and provide our members, employers, and stakeholders with access to information.
There are several things we do at CalPERS to provide information to the public. Here are some of the ways we support your right to know:
Board Meeting Webcasts
Each month our CalPERS Board of Administration meetings are viewable through a live webcast. You can also view archives of past board meetings on our YouTube channel.
Facts at a Glance
Our website is updated with the latest facts on our funded status, economic impact, pension funding, and more.
Legislation
We monitor legislation to protect the best interests of our members and employers. Here is state and federal legislation we are currently monitoring.
Board Member and Staff Accountability
To ensure our business is conducted in an open, transparent, and impartial way, we provide information related to economic interests, travel, and education for board members and key executive team members on our website.
Communication
One of the many ways we communicate is through social media channels. We use social media to post information directly to our members, employers, and stakeholders. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. And subscribe to our YouTube Channel, where you can watch informative videos on a host of CalPERS issues, including retirement, pensions, and health care, as well as training and educational events.
Public Records Requests
Under the California Public Records Act, the public has the right to access information in public agencies. We are committed to providing legally mandated information in a timely manner.
