Listening and Sharing the Facts
Meeting directly with CalPERS members and employers is an important part of Marcie’s work. She values the opportunity to hear what they have to say and address their concerns directly.
“One of the most important things I can do as a CEO is to listen. That’s how we learn what our members and partners need.”
In her visits, Marcie discusses where we stand today and where we’re headed. She talks about the challenges we face and our plans to address them.
When she speaks to CalPERS members at our CalPERS Benefits Education Events, she explains the steps that have been taken over the last several years to protect the CalPERS fund, so you can be certain you’ll receive the benefits you’ve earned.
“That’s our mission and I take it very seriously,” Marcie says.
In speaking with our stakeholders and employers, Marcie discusses the data we’re using to make decisions and shares resources to help employers plan ahead. It helps build trust in the work we’re doing.
“We want to be a reliable partner to our employers, so they can deliver the retirement and health benefits they promised their employees,” Marcie says.
Marcie plans to continue her visits throughout 2019 to keep the dialogue going. Look for more coverage of her outreach efforts in the coming months.
