Shelter-in-place orders have shed new light on the public services that keep us safe, deliver utilities to our homes, and provide vital resources such as libraries, schools, parks, public transportation—you name it. There are public servants at work in all aspects of our lives. Some go the extra mile to provide you with the support you need. They deserve recognition.
That’s the reason for the CalPERS Spotlight on Excellence Award.
What Is the Spotlight on Excellence Award?
It’s an annual award to honor outstanding public service that will be presented at our online CalPERS Educational Forum. This is a peer-nominated award coming from a CalPERS contracting agency to recognize the work of a colleague, an agency itself, or a special program that has:
- Exhibited the spirit of what it means to be of service to the public.
- Served as a model other agencies or employees can follow.
- A proven track record of success in building up their community.
Have a person, agency, or program in mind? Consider submitting a nomination—the process is easy.
The 2020 award recipient will be honored on October 14 during the 21st Annual CalPERS Educational Forum and have their story shared online through our PERSpective news and social media channels.
