If learning more about what’s going on with your CalPERS health plan and retirement benefits was part of your New Year’s resolutions, then your opportunity is coming! CalPERS Benefits Education Events—better known as “CBEEs”—are held throughout the state and are open to CalPERS members at all career stages.
The earlier you develop an understanding of your benefits, the more prepared you’ll be to make good decisions and develop a plan for your financial future. The first of several statewide CBEEs happens at the Seaside Embassy Suites (PDF) on Friday, January 11, and Saturday, January 12. The same program is offered on each day, so you can select the day you wish to attend.
What Can I Learn at a CBEE?
The free event is open on both Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and features classes on CalPERS retirement and health benefits, as well as deferred compensation, the latter of which is sponsored by the California Department of Human Resources’ Savings Plus program. In addition, sessions on my|CalPERS & Your Retirement Options (PDF), and Social Security (PDF) will be offered.
Who Should Attend a CBEE?
The short answer is every CalPERS member. Whether you’re new to CalPERS, in mid-career, or close to retirement, CBEEs offer a wealth of information about retirement and health benefits, supplemental savings plans, long-term care coverage, and more. Additionally, experts from CalPERS Regional Offices will be on hand to answer all your questions.
Where’s My CBEE?
Information on upcoming CBEEs can be found at CalPERS Benefits Education Events (more are being added, so check back soon). We encourage you to pre-register for your preferred event date to speed up registration check-in, but walk-ins are also welcome.
Make sure to check out the “What’s a CBEE?” video, which shows you what to expect at one of these events.
