CalPERS March 2019 Board Meeting Preview

This month the CalPERS Board will meet Monday, March 18, through Wednesday, March 20, at the CalPERS headquarters (400 Q Street, Sacramento, California). Full agendas are posted on our website.

Board meetings are open to the public. You can also stream the meetings live from the CalPERS website. If you can’t make it in person or miss the webcast, you can catch it on the CalPERS YouTube channel approximately 72 hours after the meeting ends.

Here is a brief overview of the items the CalPERS Board will hear this month:


On Monday, March 18, the Investment Committee will discuss the proposed private equity models. At this meeting, the board will vote if they would like CalPERS investment team members to begin negotiations with potential private equity partners on two new business models, currently referred to as “Pillar III” and “Pillar IV.”

Pension & Health Benefits

On Tuesday, March 19, the Pension & Health Benefits Committee will discuss the cost-of-living adjustment, otherwise known as COLA.

Performance, Compensation & Talent Management

Also on Tuesday, March 19, the Performance, Compensation & Talent Management Committee will meet. They will discuss the salary and incentive ranges for the chief health director position.

Board Governance

The Board Governance Committee will also meet on Tuesday, March 19. Topics include board education attendance.

CEO Report and Legislative Affairs Update

On Wednesday, March 20, CalPERS CEO Marcie Frost provides her report to the board. Additionally, Legislative Affairs Chief Danny Brown will report on state and federal legislative issues.

Just a note, the Finance and Administration Committee does not meet this month. It will reconvene in April.

The April board meeting takes place Monday, April 15, through Wednesday, April 18, at CalPERS headquarters.
