This month the CalPERS Board will meet Monday, June 17 to Wednesday, June 19 at the CalPERS headquarters (400 Q Street, Sacramento, California).
The board meetings are open to the public. You can also stream the meetings via the CalPERS website. In addition, a recording will be posted to the CalPERS YouTube channel approximately 72 hours after the meeting ends.
Full agendas are posted on our website, but here is a brief overview of the items the board will hear this month:
On Monday, June 17, CalPERS Chief Investment Officer Ben Meng will continue the monthly board education workshops. This month, the topic is the role of fixed income and benchmarks.
In addition, members of the investment team will present the CalPERS for California annual update. This report lays out how investments made by CalPERS to make money for the fund, also benefit the state of California.
Risk & Audit Committee
On Tuesday, June 18, CalPERS team members will present to the Risk and Audit Committee the quarterly reports on audit services, risk management, and compliance activity. They will also present the 2019-20 Enterprise Compliance Plan, Risk Management Plan, Audit Services Plan, and Independent Auditor’s Annual Plan.
Pension & Health Benefits Committee
The Pension and Health Benefits Committee will also meet on Tuesday. CalPERS team members will present the proposed 2020 Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) premium rates for Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Health Net of California, Kaiser Permanente, Sharp Health Plan, UnitedHealthcare, and Western Health Advantage; and the Medicare Advantage rates for Anthem Blue Cross, Kaiser Permanente and UnitedHealthcare.
In addition, team members will also present the 2020 Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) rates for Anthem Exclusive Provider Organization, PERS Choice, PERS Select, and PERSCare.
Performance, Compensation & Talent Management Committee
Also on Tuesday, the Performance, Compensation & Talent Management Committee will meet to hear the first reading of incentive plans for the CEO and the investment team.
Board of Administration
On Wednesday, June 19 the full board will meet to hear committee reports.
In addition, a resolution for Dana Hollinger will be presented in honor of her exceptional service to the CalPERS board. The Governor has not yet named a replacement for Ms. Hollinger. She held the Insurance Industry Representative seat.
