Investment Committee

The CalPERS investment team presented a summary of economic views, market analysis, portfolio performance, and risk analysis of the fund for the period ending December 31, 2018, to the board. While the update showed that 2018 ended in negative territory, the CalPERS fund came back strong in January, and February has turned out to be strong so far.

In addition, team members provided the board with an update regarding the private equity business models. This was an informational item and no action was taken.

Finance & Administration Committee

The board was presented an overview of the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) initiatives, programs, and accomplishments across CalPERS. You can learn more about CalPERS’ efforts, including an update on the current workforce demographics, in the newly released Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion Report (2017-18).

The presentation also included an update on the current D&I activities from the Investment Office, which focuses on three areas: corporate boards, external managers, and talent management.

The next CalPERS board meeting will be Monday, March 18, through Wednesday, March 20, at the CalPERS headquarters in Sacramento.
